Aero the Acro-Bat 2 (SEGA GENESIS) Platform 1994

Aero the Acro-Bat 2 is a platform game created by Iguana Entertainment and released by Sunsoft as the sequel to Aero the Acro-Bat. It was first released in April 1994 for the Sega Genesis, and subsequently in November for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The game is dedicated to Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna, who died in a Grand Prix crash.

David Siller wanted to transfer and recreate the game on the Game Boy Advance in 2002, but canceled development in favor of original releases.

The Super NES version was re-released on the Wii Virtual Console in the PAL region on August 6, 2010, and in North America on September 20, 2010.

Plot:

The tale picks up immediately after the events of the first game, in which Aero pushed Edgar Ektor off the topmost tower in his Museum of Horrors. Aero departs after knocking him off to investigate Ektor's museum, where he discovers a magician's box that transports him to an ancient castle. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Aero, Ektor's henchman Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel saves him before he hits the ground, and Ektor instructs Zero to arrange a "Plan B."

Gameplay:

The game is divided into eight worlds, each having three 'acts' (save for the last world). The levels are much longer than in the original game, yet they are constructed similarly, with many secret locations. There are no objectives, nor is there a timer. Each level's aim is to reach the exit at the conclusion of each act, fighting foes and collecting power-ups along the way.

Aero retains his drill leap skill from the original game, which may be targeted diagonally up or down to reach adversaries and platforms. The option to aim the drill leap straight down is new to this game, allowing Aero to hit foes immediately below him. Similar to the original game, food may be gathered for bonus points, and stars can be hurled at foes to beat them. Each act also has four secret letters that spell the word 'AERO.' Finding all four letters unlocks a cup switching game (also available in the Options Menu) at the end of the act, where an additional life may be obtained.
