X-Men 2 Clone Wars (SEGA GENESIS) Action 1995

The sequel to the Sega Mega Drive game X-Men, released in 1995 by Headgames and Sega under license from Marvel Comics, is X-Men 2: Clone Wars.

The game is based on the current comic book story arc at the time of production. The narrative is told through the interactions between the Cerebro and Professor X. Cerebro discovers that the Phalanx, a techno-organic extraterrestrial race, has returned and polluted a sentinel manufacturing site. When Professor X learns of this, he dispatches the X-Men (Beast, Psylocke, Gambit, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, and Cyclops) to eliminate the Phalanx virus, only to discover that it has spread to Avalon, the home of Exodus and Magneto.

The game, like its predecessor, is an action platformer. Characters walk with their left and right feet and squat with their down. They use C to leap and Down+C to jump down from platforms. Characters use B to perform a basic short-ranged attack, which may be done while crouching with Down+B or directed upwards with Up+B. Each character also has a distinct mutant ability that is activated by A. Special powers, unlike the previous game, do not require any energy to utilize. Holding A charges some unique powers.

Characters have a health bar that is divided by parts. They lose segments as a result of enemy damage. When the character's health is high (represented by the two yellow segments at the top of the bar), his or her attacks and abilities are very potent. The player loses a life and must restart the level if a character loses all of his or her health. The player can switch to another character. If the player runs out of life, the game is over.

The game allows for two players to play at the same time, with each controlling a distinct character.
