Combat Cars (SEGA GENESIS) Racing 1994

Combat Cars is a top-down racing game released in 1994 for the Sega Mega Drive by Accolade. The game was known as Fun Car Rally during development.

It is one of the few Mega Drive games that employs the "interlaced" graphics option, which is employed for split-screen two-player gameplay. It's most widely linked with Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

In Combat automobiles, the player races against other automobiles while using various weapons and devices to inflict harm on their opponents. Each character has their own set of strengths and limitations (speed, car handling, etc.), as well as their own set of weaponry. The protagonists and their vehicles are armed with a shotgun, adhesive spots that they may leave to slow down other automobiles, homing missiles, mines, and other weaponry. In the game, there are 24 different tunes to choose from. The player wins money for coming first or second in races, and this money is used to compute their score. As the player spends this money on vehicle improvements, their score drops proportionately.

The player must complete the 24 circuit tracks in many laps in a linear way under a time restriction, and if the player can reach the lone checkpoint (which is the start/finish line) in a race to extend the time limit, the game is ended. The player must then add their name into the scoreboard, with the background being the sort of area in which the last race took place. The game returns to the SEGA introduction screen once they input their name. There is also a 2-player co-op option in the game.
