Dragon's Fury (SEGA GENESIS) Pinball 1992

Dragon's Fury is a pinball game ghost-developed by Compile under license from Naxat Soft that was first released on the TurboGrafx-16 as part of Naxat's Crush series. Technosoft purchased the rights to transfer the game to the Sega Mega Drive, naming it Devil Crash MD (デビルクラッシュMD) and publishing it in Japan. They would then license it to Tengen for international localization; Tengen censored a few graphics deemed too Satanic for western audiences and released the final product as Dragon's Fury in the US and Europe (hence the page name), despite the TurboGrafx-16 version having previously been released internationally. While Naxat continued the series, Tengen would eventually produce a sequel, Dragon's Revenge, without permission from anybody.

Gameplay:

The purpose of the game is to collect as many points as possible by killing swarms of opponents and other items in each section of the table while avoiding losing all of your balls. The D-pad buttons individually shoot the left flipper by default, B shoots the right, and A tilts; this may be changed in the Options menu. While holding B, a new ball is charged for launch. There are portals into extra stages in each part of the table (see below). Completing the six standard bonus stages unlocks a seventh table that must be cleared by defeating all of the on-screen bosses in order to win the game.

When you lose all of your balls, the game concludes in a loss; in classic arcade form, there is a high score screen where victorious players put their initials. Before the game finishes, you are offered a "LAST CHANCE" to improve your score - point values ranging from 0 to 1000 shuffle swiftly on screen; press B to select the point number you desire. Even on the LAST CHANCE, you can acquire a fresh ball after a set number of points (however if you get a bonus ball in the LAST CHANCE, you will not get another LAST CHANCE after losing it).

When the game is paused, pressing A provides you a password that you may use to return to it later. While the game is paused, pressing B displays a more detailed HUD. When the game is paused, pressing C displays the top 5 scores.

Passwords obtained from the TurboGrafx-16 version are incompatible with those obtained from the Mega Drive version, and vice versa. When inputting a password, hold B while using the D-pad to move the password cursor.

In Devil Crash MD, the Options menu is accessed by pressing A+ START, however in Dragon's Fury, it is accessed right from the title screen.

Bonus Scenes:

Each portal leads to a bonus stage, the choice of which is determined by a number of preconditions. In each bonus stage, you have one ball to finish the task, however even if you lose that ball, you will still gain points for playing the bonus level. In some situations, pockets on the edges of each table send the ball out again when entered; in others, two sets of flippers are used. Completing a bonus stage successfully awards you with a point jackpot and a different colored ball.
